Castelvecchio Vitovska 2022
Arguably our most exciting new producer of 2023, Castelvecchio is located in the Karst (Carso) district of Friuli. Situated on a high plateau above the town of Sagrado, the farm comprises 80 Ha of pristine land (35 of which are under vine, the rest in forest). The site is blessed by wonderful sunlight and a constant light breeze. The soil is red-tinged limestone with a high presence of iron which confers a distinctive minerality to all their wines. Vitovska originates in nearby Slovenia from a cross between Glera (i.e. Prosecco) and Malvasia Istriana. It is characterised by its glowing straw-green colour and aroma of honey, lemon, pollen and thyme. On the palate, it displays elegance and structure. Try with antipasti at the start of a meal.
