Valdibella Grillo "Ariddu" 2022
Valdibella is a cooperative located on a high plain called Camporeale, south of Palermo, where they cultivate organic vegetables, fruit, wheat, and wine. Theirs is a truly holistic farm; they produce and sell a wide variety of food products, also providing a second chance and work opportunity for less fortunate members of society. In this respect, they continue the altruistic work of the Jesuit monks, who originally founded and developed the site in 1642, building a thriving farm community and winery.
Valdibella wines show great purity and varietal integrity. Grillo is a semi-aromatic cross of Zibibbo (muscat of Alexandra) and a local white grape called Catarratto, the latter being a main component of Marsala. The name of this wine, "Ariddu," is local dialect for “pips” (although the word in Italian also means "cricket"). With its straw-yellow colour, nose of sweet herbs and citrous fruit, and zingy acidity, it is a perfect accompaniment to the Sicilian diet of vegetables, grains, olive oil, and seafood.
