Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo Bussia DOCG 2019
The largest of the 107 MEGA (Menzione Geografiche Aggiuntive) or, in other words, single site cru vineyards in the Langhe district, Bussia is technically in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba.
The Fenocchio family produces 4 different single cru wines. Their home and winery is located in Bussia, where they have 5 south-west-facing hectares sitting at approximately 300 m. The Helvetian soil, the type that is generally attributed to more powerful and long-lasting Barolos, comprises sedimentary rock of limestone and blue clay marls, as well as being rich in iron.
As with all his Barolo, Claudio used traditional long maceration of 40 days with ambient yeast followed by ageing for 6 months in stainless steel and 30 months in 3,500 to 5,000 L Slavonian oak botti.
With its intense aromas of liquorice and rose, it is full bodied but balanced with impressive tannins and a long finish. This wine will age magnificently for 20-30 years.
