Foradori Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT Nosiola "Fontanasanta" 2018
Nosiola is a grape unique to the Trentino region of northern Italy, once very widespread and now grown in a restricted areas in the Valle dei Laghi district and near the town of Trento. Historically it was used to make outstanding sweet wines in the vinsanto method with dried grapes. Otherwise, it was blended with other local grapes for table wine.
Foradori has made this spectacular white since 2009 with grapes from their 5 ha Fontansanta vineyard. It spends 8 months on skins in terracotta amphora. Notwithstanding the long maceration, the wine has a very pale-yellow hue. Deliciously fruity and it has a distinct textured mouthfeel and nuttiness.
